Presenter: American Red Cross
Date/Time: Wednesday, October 14, 12–5pm
New safety measures include:
-Mandatory temperature screening of anyone who enters the drive. Those with a temperature of 99.6 or higher will not be permitted to enter. This includes staff, volunteers, donors, and anyone who may need to walk through the drive.
-Masks to be worn by everyone within the drive at all times. We will provide a mask to anyone who does not have one.
-Extra sanitizing to be done between each donor. We are sanitizing our beds between each donor as well as our entire health history station. Anything a donor touches is sanitized before the next donor comes into contact with it. This includes, but is not limited to, blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, computers, reading materials, etc.
-Hand sanitizer is available for use throughout the drive (and is encouraged!).
-Social distancing throughout the drive. This includes beds, history stations, and chairs for waiting donors.
-We are asking donors to not show up for their appointment until 5 minutes prior. This helps curb the number of people waiting at a time.
-Our staff are wearing gloves throughout the entire drive and are changing them between donor interactions. Previously they were only required to wear gloves when they were touching the donor or handling needles.
-Only pre‐packaged food can be served at blood drives to prevent contamination.
We have a couple of “bonuses” for donors this year:
-First and foremost, we are still testing all donations for COVID‐19 antibodies. Donors can find their results within 7‐10 days of their donation by logging into their blood donor account at www.redcrossblood.org or on the blood donor app.
-Second is a nationwide Amazon gift card giveaway! All donors who donate during October will be entered to win one of five $1,000 Amazon gift cards!
